Morteza Kazemian, a member of the Iran International editorial team, said that in reference to Donald Trump’s remarks about ending the Iran war and the possibility of continuing pressure or military action against the Islamic Republic, Trump is seeking to secure U.S. interests with “the minimum cost and maximum benefit,” and through the path of maximum pressure, he is after taking a “maximum concession” at the negotiating table.

He said Trump will not end the current situation as long as he does not guarantee complete security for the Strait of Hormuz and the return of ship traffic to the pre-war status; whether by continuing economic pressure or by resuming the war to bring the Islamic Republic back to the negotiating table.
