Mike Waltz, the United States ambassador to the United Nations, said at a meeting of the UN General Assembly that the Islamic Republic has violated laws and will never be willing to give up its “nuclear ambitions.”
Referring to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Waltz said: “Just ask the International Atomic Energy Agency.” He added that the agency has recently referred the Islamic Republic’s file back to the Security Council over what it called violations of Iran’s commitments.
The U.S. ambassador made these remarks at a session dedicated to Russia and China’s use of their veto power regarding a draft Security Council resolution related to sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Waltz also accused Russia and China of preventing the implementation of UN sanctions mechanisms in an effort to protect the Islamic Republic. He said that UN restrictions have been designed to counter the Islamic Republic’s nuclear, missile, and armament programs.
