Massoud Pezeshkian held a meeting with a number of figures active in the media and think tanks in the United States on Thursday evening, Mehr 2, at the residence of the Islamic Republic delegation in New York.

Based on images published from the meeting, Robert Malley, the former U.S. special representative for Iran, Trita Parsi, the founder of NIAC, and Farnaz Fazhi and Nigar Mojahedi, an Iranian-American journalist, were among those present.

The meeting is held alongside media and think-tank figures during their trips to the annual United Nations General Assembly.

Before this year’s trip, The Wall Street Journal reported that Pezeshkian was seeking to hold talks with analysts from American and European think tanks.

The newspaper wrote that some of the people who had been invited to meet with the Islamic Republic delegation had had reservations about informal talks with officials in Tehran due to restrictions arising from U.S. sanctions.

A specialist on Iran, who had previously received an invitation, told the newspaper: “No one wants to be seen while going there.”
