Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said on Tuesday, 13 Mordad, that negotiations between the United States, Oman, and the Islamic Republic regarding the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz have made progress, but have not yet reached a final agreement.

Mr. Rubio said the Strait of Hormuz remains open and oil and commercial vessels are passing through this waterway. However, negotiations continue in order to provide, in the short term, safer passage for a greater number of ships.

The U.S. foreign minister added that these consultations are carried out with Oman's mediation and are part of a broader process of talks about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear disarmament. He emphasized that progress has been achieved in these negotiations, but that they have not yet reached a final outcome.

Mr. Rubio expressed hope that a final agreement will be reached in the near future. He said the aim of the talks is to ensure the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz while advancing long-term discussions about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.
