Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, discussed key issues of regional security in a phone call with Sheikh Thahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates.

Based on a statement by Tammy Pequot, the chief deputy spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State, the two officials addressed the situation in Lebanon and discussed continued coordination between Washington and Abu Dhabi to keep the Islamic Republic and its proxy groups accountable for ongoing attacks.

Pequot added that Rubio, in the course of the call, emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
