🔸Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday, 5 Aban, it summoned Iran’s ambassador to the country. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the reason for summoning Iran’s ambassador was to protest a statement released by the Iranian embassy, which the ministry said constitutes an example of interference in Kuwait’s internal affairs.
🔸On Tuesday, the Kuwaiti government sentenced three individuals, including an Iranian citizen named Abdolreza Haider Deghani, to death on charges of spying for the Islamic Republic, cooperating with Lebanon’s Hezbollah, and planning the assassination of the Minister of Interior.
🔸In response to this decision, the embassy of the Islamic Republic in Kuwait, in a statement, denied any involvement of the Iranian citizen in any action against Kuwait’s security, and described the matter as “a repetition of baseless and worn-out scenarios about Iran’s interference in Kuwait’s internal affairs.”
🔸In its statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while rejecting “any interference in the rulings issued by its own courts,” urged Iran to “comply with international law and the United Nations Charter, especially the principle of good neighborliness.”
