🔸 A Tehran City Council member, with sharp criticism of the cutting of dried trees in the forest parks, said that Tehran’s municipal managers have, at the very least, failed for about 40 months regarding the withering of trees in Chitgar, and that the trees have been destroyed—and are now being cut down cruelly, and any action at present is “like Nushdar after the death of Sohrab.”
🔸 On Tuesday, 5 Aban, Naser Emani, while referring to the transfer of the forest parks of Chitgar, Sarkhehsar, and Shian to Tehran Municipality in past decades, emphasized: “Maintaining these parks should not have been handed over to municipal districts.”
🔸 With criticism of the delay in identifying and following up on the condition of the Chitgar trees, Emani said: “About 60 months have passed in this period of municipal management. Why should we only, in the last 20 months, become aware of the scope of this disaster?”
🔸 He also, referring to figures of about 30,000 damaged trees, added: “If someone is not willing to apologize to the people, then I will apologize to the people for the fact that we destroyed two big lungs of Tehran.”
🔸 Naghí Sheybānian, deputy of the Forests of the Parks and Green Spaces Organization of Tehran Municipality, said that “about 41 percent of the trees [in Chitgar] have completely dried up and another 28 percent are also in a critical condition.”
