Kayhan newspaper, which is published under the supervision of the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, wrote in criticism of Masoud Pezeshkian’s remarks during his trip to New York: “Revenge is a divine mission that is not subject to waiver. Killers should not feel secure anywhere in the world, and the diplomatic apparatus must know that blood vengeance for the martyred Imam is the definitive demand of the nation, and no one has the right to back away from retribution.”
In a piece titled “Blood vengeance is a demand of the Iranian nation; Trump must be killed,” the newspaper continued: “This is certain revenge and will soon be realized by the free people of the world.”
Kayhan added that Pezeshkian’s remarks, saying that “the Iranian government is not seeking the assassination of Trump, and it is not the position of the Iranian government to want to assassinate Trump or members of his family,” were met with a sharp reaction from the “blood-vindicating nation.”
