JD Vance, the U.S. vice president, said keeping oil and gasoline prices low for American citizens is the top priority of the Donald Trump administration in its war against the Iranian government, and preventing Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is the next priority.

Speaking on Thursday, 22 Mordad, in an interview with Fox News, Vance said the U.S. government is working to keep Gulf countries exporting oil and gas so that stability in the global energy market is maintained. He added that oil prices, after an initial spike in the early days of the fighting, have now fallen significantly.

The U.S. vice president expressed hope that the war will end by strengthening the United States’ position, preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and restoring security to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. He also acknowledged that the government’s shift in focus among issues such as energy prices, military attacks, and Iran’s nuclear program has affected public perception, but he emphasized that Washington uses these tools strategically to secure U.S. interests.
