Jamshid Bazzegar, a journalist and political analyst, said that the Republicans’ defeat in the U.S. congressional elections has increased pressure on Donald Trump and may push him toward an immediate agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran or a military action.

Referring to Tehran’s increased diplomatic activity, the trip by Mohsen Rezaei to Moscow, and the mediation of regional countries, Bazzegar added that Trump is still keeping both options—negotiation and a military attack—on the table. According to him, if diplomatic efforts do not yield results quickly, the likelihood of a U.S. military action will increase.
