Jaber Rajabi, a political analyst, said that increased economic pressures, limited financial resources, and Iraqi Shiite political groups distancing themselves from the Islamic Republic have reduced Tehran’s ability to support proxy groups. According to him, the Islamic Republic is trying to prevent further weakening of the network of proxy forces by maintaining ties with groups close to it, especially the Yemeni Houthis.
Rajabi added that the position of Mojtaba Khamenei among these groups differs from that of Ali Khamenei, and many of them do not have the same motivation as before to enter a new war. He predicted that if a new conflict begins, the participation of proxy groups would be more limited than in the past.
