A citizen, in a message to Iran International, reported extortion of prisoners’ families in Fashafuyeh prison, with the promise of freeing their children.
The citizen, whose son is being held in Fashafuyeh prison, said that he has been contacted repeatedly from different numbers, and that they promised the release of his son. He added that despite paying money, his child was not released, and that after following up, he found that these calls are made by some prison staff.
He also said that he contacted other prisoners’ families, and that they confirmed similar experiences.
According to the citizen, the callers use personal information recorded in prison forms to reach out to families and, with baseless promises of prisoners’ release, take money from them.
