Israel Hayom, citing U.S. and diplomatic officials, reported that the likelihood of resuming attacks against the Islamic Republic is not dependent on the formation of a new government in Israel, and that Washington and Israel will continue their military, intelligence, and political coordination in order to decide on their next steps.
The newspaper, citing a senior U.S. government official, wrote that Washington intends to neutralize threats from the Islamic Republic during the remaining two years of Donald Trump’s presidency and to pave the way for reaching new regional agreements in the Middle East.
The official, whom Israel Hayom said has deep knowledge of Israeli policy, warned that the country’s leaders must take advantage of this opportunity.
He said: “This is a real warning. If your political leaders do not rush to use this very important strategic opportunity, then in two more years—when this opportunity has been lost—Israel’s war for its own survival will become much more difficult.”
