🔶 Iran’s foreign ministry reacts to the suspension of flights from Iran to Iraq

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, 10 Mehr (October 2), in response to the cancellation of flights between Iran and Iraq, called for lifting these restrictions and resuming normal flights between the two countries.

Following the expansion of U.S. sanctions on flights, Iraqi sources had reported the suspension of flights by Iranian airlines to Baghdad, Najaf, Karbala, and Erbil airports.

In a statement, Iran’s foreign ministry said the United States is the cause of disruption to Iran’s air transport with other countries by enforcing its sanctions extraterritorially, and described these actions as “in violation of the UN Charter, international law, and the principle of respect for the national sovereignty of states.”

The statement said the restrictions imposed on passenger flights between Iran and Iraq are at odds with the common interests of the two countries and create problems for hundreds of thousands of passengers, pilgrims, patients, students, and economic actors.
