The International Maritime Organization warned that the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz has still not been resolved, as six months have passed since the war involving Iran, and about 400 ships carrying nearly 6,000 seafarers have been unable to leave the area with complete safety.

Arsenio Domingos, the organization’s secretary-general, rejected reports about the restoration of freedom of movement and called for cooperation between countries and the shipping industry to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the organization, by Wednesday, 70 incidents and 19 deaths of seafarers have been confirmed.

Tracking data also indicate limited and slow transit of ships, and many shipping companies still do not show willingness to return their large vessels to the Persian Gulf.
