🔶 Inflation Rate in the Eurozone Reaches Highest Level in Three Years

A sharp rise in energy prices has pushed inflation in the eurozone to its highest level in the past three years. The prices of consumer goods and services increased by 3.8% in September compared with the same month last year.

Based on preliminary data from the European Union’s statistics office, this figure was 3.2% in August. Thus, the increase in inflation exceeded expectations, as experts surveyed by Reuters had predicted a rate of 3.6%.

The main reason for this rise across the eurozone is high energy prices. Energy prices increased by 18.8% compared with the same month last year. The rate was 14.3% in August.
