Ilna news agency reports the spread of cancer among Iranian agricultural workers due to “substandard pesticides.”

Kivan Sadeqi, a responsible cancer registration expert in Kermanshah province, told ILNA that in Iran, cancers related to the digestive system are higher than the average in other countries, and mostly include colorectal cancer, liver cancer, and stomach cancer.

Majid Ramazani, director of an environmental testing center in Alborz province, also said that he has repeatedly presented the results of his studies to various officials in the presidency, the Department of Environment, and some other ministries, but has faced indifference. He warned about the “fatal dangers” of consuming food and orchard and farm products, as well as working in orchards that are contaminated in terms of water, fertilizers, and pesticides.

In recent years, many reports have been published about the return of Iran’s exported agricultural products due to the use of non-standard pesticides.
