ILNA news agency, affiliated with the House of Labor state-linked organization, reported the departure of one million workers from the official labor market and, quoting a senior member of the Chamber of Commerce, wrote: “The actual unemployment rate is five times the official rate.”

ILNA emphasized that some announced statistics, including the seven-percent unemployment rate over the past year, do not reflect what has happened to Iran’s economy and the labor market, and that new indicators must be defined to explain the country’s problems.
