Hossein Aghayi, a member of Iran International’s editorial team, assessed Mohsen Rezaei’s meeting with Vladimir Putin within the framework of Russia’s efforts to mediate an end to the war.

According to him, Moscow is trying to encourage the Islamic Republic to moderate its positions on 60% enriched uranium and the Strait of Hormuz and move toward a diplomatic solution.

Aghayi added that the meeting could be Russia’s latest attempt to warn the Islamic Republic before the fighting escalates.
