🔶 Herzog in response to Trump’s support for Netanyahu: No one can interfere in my decision
After Donald Trump, the U.S. president, once again announced his support for Benjamin Netanyahu in the upcoming elections in Israel, Isaac Herzog, the president of the country, said in remarks to American media that when deciding who to appoint to form a coalition government after the elections, he will not be influenced by this announcement or any external pressure.
In an interview with the “MS NOW” network, he emphasized: “I don’t think the President of the United States or anyone else can interfere in my decision-making. This decision must be made based on specific facts, and we still have to see what these facts are.”
Israel’s general elections will be held on Tuesday, October 27 (5 Aban). A close contest is expected between Netanyahu’s coalition bloc and the opposition camp.
After the votes are counted, Herzog will consult with the leaders of the elected parties before handing the task of forming a coalition government to the person he believes has the best chance to do so.
