🔶 Hackers claim they stole information on thousands of FBI agents

The U.S. Federal Police (FBI) has apparently been the target of a large-scale cyberattack. According to Reuters, the group “Shiny Hunters” announced that it stole information “from almost all FBI agents and individuals who applied for employment with the FBI.”

According to the news agency, “Shiny Hunters” also said it obtained information about about five thousand employees of the U.S. federal police.

To prove their success, the hackers have provided, among other things, parts of a dataset. According to this report, the dataset apparently contains information including the names, home addresses, and Social Security numbers of FBI agents, as well as their field assignments and, in some cases, the names of their family members.

The Federal Police has confirmed that an incident occurred, but has not provided details. According to American media reports, the FBI said it “has been made aware of reports about unauthorized activity related to FBIjobs. gov and is investigating the matter.”
