🔶 Germany’s foreign minister: We are ready to cooperate with the new majority in the US Congress
Johann Wawedeffohl, Germany’s foreign minister, announced his country’s readiness to cooperate with the new majority in the United States Congress in light of the Democrats’ victory in the US midterm elections.
On Wednesday, November 4, in Berlin, Wawedeffohl called the result of these elections a “very decisive victory” for the Democratic Party and said: “In the history of the United States, such a victory rarely happens with this level of decisiveness.”
He also expressed hope that the new balance of power in Congress would influence United States foreign policy as well.
The German foreign minister said: “With the Democrats having a majority in both chambers of Congress, they will seek to bring about changes along the political path of the United States.”
Johann Wawedeffohl added that, in addition to multiple domestic issues in the United States, foreign policy matters also played an important role in electoral rivalries, including among them the tariff policy and the war in Iran, which have also affected the cost of living for people in the United States.
