French authorities are seeking the power to block access to social media over calls for unrest, Le Figaro reported, citing an amendment to a bill aimed at countering riots submitted to parliament.

The initiative proposes requiring online platforms to remove, within one hour, content calling for terrorist attacks, insurrection or armed struggle against the government or certain population groups.
