Following the resumption of the United States’ maritime blockade against the Islamic Republic, Iran’s floating oil reserves in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman have increased.

Citing satellite data, the organization “Coalition Against Nuclear Iran” has reported that 45 tankers carrying Iranian oil and oil products, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), have been trapped within the U.S. blockade line.

Last week, the company Kepler had told Voice of America that Iran’s floating oil reserves are about 140 million barrels, of which 95 million barrels are outside the blockade line and the rest are in waters south of Iran.

The United States had previously imposed a maritime blockade against the Islamic Republic, but after the ceasefire agreement it lifted the blockade. The “Coalition Against Nuclear Iran” says that, in the period between the lifting and the renewed imposition of the maritime blockade, the Islamic Republic sent about 80 million barrels of oil worth six billion dollars into Asian waters.
