Finnish President Alexander Stubb may become the key European mediator in negotiations with Russia on Ukraine after his talks earlier this week with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Vladimir Zelensky in Oslo, according to Berliner Zeitung.

The story says that Stubb’s significant advantage over other European politicians is his good relations with US President Donald Trump.

Stubb’s participation in the negotiations would reduce the risk of a confrontation between Trump and Zelensky, as relations between Kiev and Washington have deteriorated sharply recently, the paper said.
