The final results of Israel’s election show that Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc has 53 seats, and the four main opposition parties have 48 seats; none of them has reached the required majority to form a government.

Meanwhile, the Arab parties, by winning 19 seats, have nearly doubled their share compared to the previous election. The Joint List won 11 seats and Ra’am won 8 seats.

Support for these two lists could bring the total seats of Netanyahu’s opponents to 67. But disagreements over cooperation with the Arab parties have made forming such an alliance challenging, and have increased the role of these parties in determining the future government.
