🔻The Fars website and news agency have published a document showing that FIFA, in response to a question from Esteghlal Football Club about foreign players, has allowed the club to renew contracts with players from the previous season. Esteghlal, however, has asked FIFA for information about Ondong, Antonio Adan, and Mosi Gencpo.

🔹In clause 47 of FIFA’s response to Esteghlal, it states: «FIFA reminds that, according to what is explicitly stated in the decision under appeal, the appellant was only prohibited from registering new players.»

🔹And the more important point is clause 48: «It is obvious that players who were already present in the appellant’s registered list in the past sporting season, regardless of whether their contracts have ended, been terminated, or their registration has been canceled, are not considered new players; therefore, the appellant can register them again.»

🔹In the past few months, Persepolis and a number of clubs in Iran’s Premier League have, with reference to the unilateral termination of Yaser Asani with Esteghlal last summer and given that Esteghlal’s transfer window is closed until January 2027, argued that playing the Albanian star is illegal.
