Eyal Zamir, the chief of staff of the Israeli army, at a memorial ceremony for the soldiers of the Commando Brigade in Modi’in, pledged to implement the lessons of the seventh of October [the Hamas attack], strengthen the army, and prevent future threats against Israel.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Zamir stressed the army’s responsibility to increase the number of troops and the importance of serving in the army.

He emphasized the need to turn the army’s failures and the lessons of October 7 into practical changes in Israel’s defensive strategy.

Zamir said: “We have gained deep insights that we are committed to turning into practical action. While preparing the Israel Defense Forces for the future, we are updating the security doctrine and actively implementing the lessons learned.”

He also said that Israel’s strategy focuses on “destroying in advance the enemy’s capabilities before threats take shape, and pursuing those who seek to undermine the existence of Israel.”

Zamir said: “We will act to destroy the enemy’s capabilities in advance, prevent threats from forming against our future, and relentlessly pursue those who deny our right to live in our land.”
