The executive secretary of the House of Labour in Qazvin, referring to the increase in the cost of living and the gap between wages and inflation, said that many retirees cannot afford the initial expenses of daily life.
According to ILNA, Eydali Karimi, referring to rising prices of essential goods, especially bread, said that economic pressure on workers and retirees has increased and many retirees are facing problems in covering their everyday expenses.
Karimi also warned about the possible rise in the prices of energy carriers and said that such a decision could trigger a new wave of price increases and neutralize the effect of the wage increases at the beginning of the year. He called for reviewing wages in proportion to the inflation rate and paying retirees’ outstanding claims.
This labor activist also asked the government to pay its debt to the Social Security Organization as soon as possible and said that this organization should not limit healthcare services or its obligations to retirees in order to make up for a lack of resources.
