🔺EU commissioner: Ukraine’s membership in January 2027 is not possible

▪ The EU enlargement commissioner said that Ukraine’s membership in this union is not possible on the date set by the President of Ukraine, and that Kyiv will not receive any special benefits.

▪ Marta Kós told the Corriere della Sera newspaper: “The date of January 1, 2027 has been set by President Zelensky. Accession is based on merit, and it is clear that this date is not possible.”

▪ She emphasized: “In the process of joining the European Union there are no benefits or discounts,” and candidates must meet strict requirements regarding the rule of law, economic convergence, and acceptance of EU laws.
