End of hunger strike by prisoners in Qezel Hesar; public reactions to the execution of political prisoners

🔸 The Iran Human Rights organization reported that a hunger strike by prisoners sentenced to death in Qezel Hesar prison has ended, following a meeting between officials of the Islamic Republic and the hunger strikers.

🔸 At the same time, public and public-facing reactions to the execution of two other protesters from December 2024 in Isfahan have made headlines, and some cultural figures have described these executions as the government’s efforts to prevent events similar to the protests of Dey.

🔸 On July 7, the Iran Human Rights organization said that officials of the Islamic Republic, during a meeting with the striking prisoners of Qezel Hesar, promised that the execution of cases related to narcotics would be temporarily halted in this prison. At the same time, six prisoners sentenced to death in narcotics-related cases were transferred back from solitary confinement to a general ward.

🔸 This hunger strike began on Tir 22, following the transfer of six prisoners sentenced to death in cases involving crimes related to narcotics to solitary cells in Unit 2 of Qezel Hesar prison. This unit houses around 1,500 prisoners sentenced to death on charges related to narcotics.
