Donald Trump, the President of the United States, said at an election rally in Mobile, Alabama, that he does not know who he should negotiate with in the Islamic Republic in order to reach an agreement.
Trump said: “Part of our problem is that I don’t know who I’m dealing with in Iran, because there’s nobody who wants to take leadership.”
With a mocking tone, he added: “There isn’t anyone you can talk to in Iran. No one wants to play the role of president. I ask, who in Iran should I talk to? Knock, knock! Nobody’s home!”
Trump said the war with the Islamic Republic will end “in any way” and soon, through an agreement or military action, and that this could happen immediately after the U.S. midterm elections.
He also described the Islamic Republic’s naval blockade as a “steel wall” and said that after the war ends, the price of oil will drop sharply.
The speech was delivered on Friday night at the Mitchell Center of the University of South Alabama.
Meanwhile, the Group of Seven countries agreed to release 100 million barrels of crude oil and gasoil over the next four months from emergency stockpiles. Trump also said that the United States has no plan to ban gasoil exports.
