⏺Did you know where mirrored walls in Iran’s historical and religious sites started? 🙂

During the reign of Naser al-Din Shah, large and expensive mirrors were brought from Europe to Iran, but many of these mirrors broke due to the difficulty of transporting them along the route.

That’s when Iranian architects had an idea! Instead of throwing those pieces away, they decided to use the same fragments to decorate walls and ceilings. Over time, this work turned from an “imposed solution” into a style of Iranian art; because the reflection of light in thousands of pieces of broken mirror gave the space a dazzling and magnificent effect. Later, this architectural style became one of Iran’s authentic styles, and it also became a symbol of this way of thinking: A mirror signifies purity and illumination, and its breaking into infinity is considered a kind of reference to divine beauty and majesty.
