Data from the Statistical Center shows that in September this year, 40,974 tons of red meat were supplied to slaughterhouses across the country, which is 10% less than September last year.

The 10% decline in the supply of red meat comes as, according to the Statistical Center’s estimates, its price in September this year has also jumped 128% compared with the same month last year.

A review of the Statistical Center’s data archives by Voice of America shows that the amount of red meat supplied to slaughterhouses in September 1400 was about 55,875 tons; in other words, over the past five years, the country’s meat supply has fallen by around 27%.

FAO figures also show that Turkey, with a population similar to Iran’s, consumes 2.5 times more red meat than its neighbor.
