🔺Suspension of Qatar gas deliveries to Italy extended; repairing facilities will take three to five years
▪Enel Gas and Electric Company Edison (Italy) announced on Tuesday that QatarEnergy has extended the suspension of liquefied natural gas delivery to the company until the end of December. The previous deadline was in early December, and three more shipments will be subject to the suspension.
▪Edison published this news in Italy’s energy markets manager system. QatarEnergy first informed Edison of the cancellation of deliveries in Farvardin.
▪The root of the matter dates back to last Esfand. The Islamic Republic’s missile attack on Qatar’s Ras Laffan facilities disabled two of the 14 LNG processing units of QatarEnergy and one gas-to-liquids conversion unit. The disabled capacity is 12.8 million tons per year, about 17% of Qatar’s total capacity.
