Carl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel have jointly won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

These three scientists received the award for discovering light-sensitive ion channels and developing optogenetics methods, which makes it possible to control neuron activity with light.
