Cambiz Tavana, a member of the editorial board of Iran International, said the Houthis’ attacks on Saudi Arabia, including the targeting of a civilian airport, could push Riyadh toward a more serious response or an effort to form a new alliance.
He added that Donald Trump, despite rejecting an attack on the Islamic Republic before the midterm elections, has said that if Tehran were to act, the United States would respond quickly and heavily. According to Tavana, Washington is currently focusing its military pressure on the Islamic Republic and it is not yet clear whether it will enter into direct military involvement against the Houthis or not.
