Based on information received by Iran International, Mohammadreza Mastaneh Seljoughi, 66 years old and a veteran of the Iran–Iraq War, after months have passed since his arrest, is still being held in detention in a state of limbo and has been denied the right to access a lawyer.

Mr. Seljoughi spent six years of his youth in the front lines of the eight-year war, and due to chemical injuries and severe complications affecting his nerves and mental health, he is in extremely difficult conditions in prison.

According to this information, when prison officials consider his mental state to be deteriorating, instead of providing medical services, they place him on a “fixed” bed, in such a way that his hands and feet and his body are fully restrained and he is unable to move.

This 66-year-old veteran was arrested on 21 Azar 1404 following his presence at the ceremony for Hosro Ali Kordi and is still being held in custody without any legal determination.
