Abu Dhabi National Oil Company plans to reduce the volume of crude oil it sells to Asian customers in Mordad and Shahrivar. Bloomberg reported this, citing people familiar with the matter, and added that the reduction has already lifted the price of Murban oil, the UAE’s flagship grade.
Based on what the same sources said, the cut in cargoes sold in the spot market would be about five percent.
The decision concerns cargoes purchased outside the exchange. Therefore, physical cargoes bought through the ICE Abu Dhabi futures exchange are not affected.
A source familiar with the matter said that this retreat is related to planned maintenance at Abu Dhabi’s onshore oil fields.
