A Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said early Saturday it intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones that Houthi forces supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran had launched toward Saudi Arabia.

The coalition said in posts on the X social network that the missiles were moving toward Khamis Mushait and the drones toward Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The coalition added that it was monitoring the missile- and drone-based threats launched toward Saudi Arabia, but it did not provide further details.

Saudi Arabia’s civil defense had issued warnings during the night for Khamis Mushait and Abha, but it did not issue any warning for Riyadh.

The Houthis, who control the most densely populated areas of Yemen and a large part of the country’s north, have carried out attacks against Saudi Arabia since they announced a maritime blockade against Riyadh in July and targeted Saudi ships in the Red Sea.
