A police officer was killed in the south of Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province

🔸 The Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic said that an armed attack was carried out on a vehicle carrying officers in Iranshahr, in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province, and that in this attack one police officer was killed.

🔸 According to a statement from the Law Enforcement Command, the attack took place on Monday, 30 Shahrivar, on the Bamestan–Iranshahr route, and during it a police officer, a captain named Alireza Mehrabi, was killed and three other people were injured.

🔸 The statement said that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the attack.

🔸 In recent days, armed clashes in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province have increased significantly. Early Friday, 27 Shahrivar, images and videos of armed clashes in the city of Zahedan were published on social media, and the Borna news agency reported the killing of a Law Enforcement officer in those clashes.

🔸 On Monday, 23 Shahrivar, Iranian media also reported the assassination of a Sunni cleric from Zahedan named Molavi Yusef Gargij, saying that he was killed in front of his home.

🔸 The individual whose assassination was reported by the outlet that covers news from Sistan and Baluchestan was described as being among government supporters and “close to the security apparatus of the Islamic Republic.”
