Officials in Fars Province say a fire in the Mi-Lati plains forests in Mamasani County has been brought under control after eight days by relief forces and local people.
According to IRNA, Sirus Gorgizadeh, the district governor of Mamasani’s Mi-Lati, said: “A fire in the forests of Mi-Lati plains, located in Mamasani County, after eight days of efforts by relief forces and local people, nature lovers and the province’s crisis management headquarters, was brought under control, but the work of monitoring the area is still ongoing.”
Based on reports, the fire began on Saturday, 14 Shahrivar, in the mountainous slopes of Mi-Lati plains in Mamasani County and, despite being brought under control several times, flared up again due to weather conditions and strong winds.
According to the district governor, “40 firefighting personnel are present in the area and are carrying out fire monitoring.”
Arash Nik-Khoo, an environmental activist in Iran, wrote on his X account that, according to estimates, “at least 5,000 hectares of the area’s forests” were burned in the blaze.
Mamasani County, with its dense vegetation and oak forests, contains some of the most valuable natural resources of the Zagros region.
