Yehiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador in the US, said in an interview with Iran International that Israel would not be satisfied with anything less than the collapse of the Islamic Republic.

Leiter said: “The government must fall. I think they are on the path to collapse. This process may take a bit longer than what we thought.”

The Israeli ambassador in the US added: “Victory over the Islamic Republic is certainly contingent on the collapse of the government, because if this government does not fall and does not collapse, it will find a way to rebuild itself.”

Leiter said that the timing of any kind of collapse is inherently uncertain and compared Iran’s situation to the final years of the Soviet Union, when only a small number of experts were able to correctly predict its collapse.

The Israeli ambassador in the US said: “Israel and the United States alone cannot determine Iran’s political future, and ultimately a third pillar must be formed by the Iranian people themselves.”
