🔶 Zidane appointed to lead “France’s roosters”

As expected, Zinédine Zidane, the former France national team player, will take charge of coaching the French national football team as the successor to Didier Deschamps. After 14 years of service in this role and securing fourth place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Deschamps ended his cooperation with the French Football Federation.

The French Football Federation on Tuesday, July 28 (August 6), officially introduced Zinédine Zidane as the new head coach of the country’s national team. Philippe Diallo, the head of this body, in an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro in March, without naming anyone specifically, said that the successor to Deschamps for the role of head coach of the French national team had been determined.

At the same time, most indications pointed to the fact that the 54-year-old Zidane would succeed Deschamps. Zidane, who has coaching experience at club level, including leading the renowned Real Madrid club, is becoming a national team coach for the first time.
