With seven days left until Israel’s election, the race between Benjamin Netanyahu and his two main rivals, Gadi Eisenkot and Naftali Bennett, has tightened.
Eisenkot, the former chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, has now become a serious rival to Netanyahu with the Yesh Atid party. He has a tough stance toward the Islamic Republic, but believes that the change of government in Iran must be decided by the people of that country.
At the same time, the average of opinion polls shows that neither of the two main blocs will reach the necessary majority to form a government, and the outcome of the race hinges on winning support from other parties.
