Widespread drought in 2026 has left parts of Europe facing a severe decline in water resources, and rivers and water reservoirs in some areas have reached their lowest historical levels.

In northern England, the drop in the level of the Woudhead Reservoir has exposed parts of its riverbed.

In London as well, widespread dryness in gardens and green spaces is visible; so that after the driest recorded July, nearly three-quarters of the soil in England is in drought conditions.

In Bulgaria too, the level of the Danube River has fallen to unprecedented lows in some regions, and parts of its dried riverbed are being used to extract sand.
