What is the U.S. “economic eviction” operation against Iran, and what are its key areas?
🔸The U.S. Treasury Secretary on Monday, the second of Shahrivar, announced extensive and wide-ranging economic measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran under the title “economic eviction operation.” According to Scott Bessent, the aim is to “cut off all of Iran’s vital economic arteries,” “until Tehran is completely left alone.”
🔸The U.S. Treasury Secretary said in a press briefing: “In World War II, D-Day was the historic point of departure for a campaign with our allies to target and drive the enemy out of its positions, including positions established in third countries.”
🔸Bessent added: “Today, with the same spirit, we are launching an economic onslaught against Iran’s financial ties around the world. Our goal is to cut off all vital economic arteries that keep this oppressive regime standing, until Tehran is completely left alone.”
🔸The U.S. Treasury Secretary said: “President Trump has taken action that his predecessors had long postponed. Under his leadership, the United States is no longer managing the threat of Iran; rather, we are putting an end to it. Those who stand alongside the United States will benefit from the fruits of partnership with us. But those who tie themselves to Tehran should expect to partner in the isolation of a regime that is collapsing.”
