The Washington Institute for Near East Policy has recorded 28 attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters, which is the highest number in a month since the start of the war.

Noam Reidan, a senior researcher at the institute who keeps a map of maritime incidents, said that this month “saw the highest number of attacks on ships in the entire reporting period.”

The total number of attacks recorded by the institute since the start of the U.S. and Israel war against the Islamic Republic on 9 Bahman has reached 113. The International Maritime Organization has counted 120 incidents, and the UK Maritime Trade Operations has recorded 135 incidents up to 24 Mehr.

A Reuters review shows that more than 30 supertankers have been damaged, with 11 of them during this period. This figure is close to 3.5 tenths of a percent of the global supertanker fleet, which is more than 900 vessels.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations emphasized that reporting by shipping companies is optional and does not show the full picture.
