🔸 Vance: Pezeshkian and Irachi are negotiating with the US, but it’s not clear how much authority they have

JD Vance, vice president of the United States, said in an exclusive interview with Reuters on October 7 (Mehr 15) that Iran, in order to meet the United States’ demands and end the seven-month war between the two countries, must “meaningfully” reduce its uranium enrichment capacity.

He emphasized that any agreement with Iran must include a reduction in enrichment capacity and that a mere promise to reduce nuclear activities in the future is not enough. He, referring to Iran’s 60% uranium enrichment, said to the Islamic Republic: “If you don’t want a nuclear weapon, what do you need fuel enriched to 60 percent for? And if you want to demonstrate that you are committed to not building a nuclear bomb, don’t produce highly enriched fuel.”

Vance, noting that Washington still does not have a clear picture of how decision-making in Tehran works during the negotiations, said that “America is negotiating with Massoud Pezeshkian and Abbas Araqchi, but it’s not clear how much authority these individuals have in Iran’s power structure.”
