US stock markets closed lower on Thursday; this while investors were simultaneously following the companies’ financial results and developments related to possible negotiations for a deal between the United States and the Islamic Republic.
According to “CamenBank,” optimism about the possibility of ending the war in recent days had helped drive new record highs in US stock exchange indexes, but the market is now waiting for the details of the negotiations.
The report adds that oil prices also rose at the same time; US crude oil closed up 2.75% at $77.29, and Brent rose 3.83% to $82.49.
A review of a bill in the parliament of the Islamic Republic to prohibit the passage of ships belonging to the United States, Israel, and other countries that Tehran calls them “hostile” through the Strait of Hormuz was also among the issues attracting market attention.
According to Robert Bernstein, head of trading at “Summit TAIEx Capital,” markets have to some extent fallen into “news fatigue” regarding developments related to the Islamic Republic, and now, more than headlines, they are waiting for the details to be clarified of any potential agreement.
